About Us

The Post at Lamar Park features expertly crafted pre-Prohibition style cocktails, sure to satisfy any indulgence. The Post’s craft cocktail menu will feature both those that are “tried and true” and many that will expand the horizons of any patron or connoisseur of a cocktail.

While the craft cocktail is the staple of The Post at Lamar Park, careful attention is given to a generous and unique wine list including, whites, reds, bubbles, and even rosés.

Have no fear, the beer is here! The Post will feature a wide array of unique and diverse beers, straight from the best craft breweries around.

When dining at The Post at Lamar Park, one will find a carefully edited selection of seasonal dishes that are meant to stand on their own as a dish, not sides, for the table. The goal is to encourage our guests to sample their way through the menu and enjoy an array of new ingredients, flavors, and textures.

The look and the feel of the Post at Lamar Park was crafted to reflect and pay homage to the space’s origin, a U.S. Post Office. The exposed rafters, concrete flooring, reclaimed barn wood and Thomas Edison bulb fixtures; take you to a place of tangible curiosity. An outdoor patio was expanded from the post office’s original loading dock, to provide an outdoor experience for our patrons, in addition to the generous communal seating provided inside.

Our History

Gastropub: “A pub that specializes in high quality food.”

The Post at Lamar Park is a unique establishment in that it is not a bar and it is not a restaurant- it’s a unique and refreshing combination of the two, located near the bay, right off the scenic Ocean Drive, in the Lamar Park Shopping Center.

The Post at Lamar Park was established in November of 2015 by Corpus Christi native, James Gonzales and his wife, Susan Gonzales. The idea was simple: bring something new to Corpus Christi, and to do it well.

Inspiration for The Post came from their travels across The United States. They frequent many restaurants and bars, gaining inspiration for their concepts, and what they saw was as a increasing trend in the “gastropub”, where an eatery wasn’t solely focused on one style of cuisine, but more so, a variety of dishes that paired nicely with a hand crafted cocktail.

The Post is essentially just that- a cool place, with a fresh ambience and a beautiful dog-friendly outdoor patio that offers a simple, yet surprisingly thorough menu of American Fusion cuisine. Each dish, while smaller in size, but still very generous, is best shared with friends and family paired with a craft cocktail, wine, or craft beer.

The Post is proud to offer the freshest of ingredient for both our cocktails and cuisine. The Post is a supporter of the Downtown Farmer’s Market, along with the Grow Local South Texas movement. All juices and syrups for our cocktail menu are made in house, daily, which in turn creates the best cocktails.

The Post has easily become a favorite among locals, and many refer to it as their favorite neighborhood watering hole. The Post is the perfect spot for a night out on the town, or a place to unwind and relax.
